Pulido-Walker Melanson Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2012

Coming from pharmacist families, Mark Pulido and Donna Walker epitomize detailed precision in all aspects of life, but especially when it comes to releasing a wine with their names on it. This is shown with the ancient apothecary weight bearing the seasonal symbols of alchemy displayed on the label. The Old World instrument of precise measurement expresses their determination and success in creating a wine that is a unique expression of Napa Valley Cabernet. 

The Melanson Vineyard is all about the site. Established by Greg Melanson in 1988, the vineyard produces fruit of exceptional quality, surreal in fact, with plenty of tannin and crushed rock nuances to showcase its Pritchard Hill character!  The old vine clones continue to set the standard for the blend, with clone 7 leading the way. Extended hang time on the vine translated to excellent extraction in the tank; a couple of days into fermentation, the wine was almost black. This 2012 swells with red and black fruits, toasted brown sugar, and maple. It’s warm, seamless, and positively decadent.
