1.5 liter bottling of Drinkward Peschon? Yes, yes and yes. This exciting project we found several years ago is something no one should miss. The style is textbook Napa Valley and the quality is matched by few others at this price point. The collection of talent starts with Lisa Drinkward in the vineyard (vineyard manager for Behrens Family Vineyards) and Francoise Peschon (former winemaker at Araujo and currently at Accendo & Vine Hill Ranch) in the winery. Interested? You should be. It's been a secret favorite among the who's who of Napa Valley for years now... Their 2014 is a phenomenal, blockbuster Napa Valley Cabernet – in our glass we find warm blackberries, creme de cassis, dark cherries and savory spice notes, alongside white flowers, violets and potpourri. Dusty cocoa and bittersweet chocolate are undercut with a firm current of graphite minerality. The tannins are satiny and resolved, seamlessly integrated. In short, it’s a showy, generous and satisfying bottle of wine. Lisa and Francoise source fruit from three impeccable vineyards, one in Calistoga, one here in St. Helena, and the third from Oak Knoll. The three sites are harmoniously balanced in this wine. We await the release of this wine every year with baited breath. If you are looking for a sign from us whether or not you should purchase some (maximum quantity you can afford would be our recommendation), consider this write-up the sign and let us hear from you as soon as you read this. The wine is small production and will not last on our shelves long...
