We debuted the inaugural 2013 vintage of Jayson Woodbridge's greatest (?--you tell us!) project, Hundred Acre Wraith. Jayson Woodbridge, owner of Hundred Acre, is a renegade vintner who Robert Parker describes as 'one of the wine world's most compelling, outspoken, irreverent, bigger-than-life personalities, who can get away with just about anything he wants to say or do simply because year after year he proves what great wine is all about'. Since his first vintage in 2000, he has consistently produced the most opulent, most luxurious, critically revered, and sought-after wines in Napa Valley. Parker has bequeathed a bevy of 100-point scores to his wines - Hundred Acre has received over NINETEEN 100-Point scores from Parker and the Wine Advocate!!! Never one to rest on his laurels, Woodbridge, over the last ten-plus years, has been working on a secret project, obsessively tasting and scrutinizing every single coveted barrel from his three prized single vineyards, looking to find perfection in what Aristotle philosophized as the whole being more significant than the sum of its parts. After years of failing to create his pinnacle of perfection from these wines, in 2013, his vision came to fruition with the first vintage of Wraith ~ Woodbridge's 'Holy Grail' of wine. Deep garnet, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith jumps with spicy scents of cumin seed, clove oil, cinnamon stick, and fenugreek, leading to a core of prunes, blueberry pie, and blackcurrant cordial, with touches of iron ore and red roses. The rich, full-bodied palate layers in red fruit nuances with a wonderfully elegant and ethereal structure, delivering silken tannins, seamless freshness, and a long-lasting firework display for a finish.
