Living in the valley, we have the privilege of being friends and neighbors to some of the coolest, most talented winemakers, and Dan Petroski is indubitably one of them. Dan's passion for bright, mouthwatering white wine shines through with his Massican label. These wines are refreshing, vibrant, and incredibly well-priced in relation to their winemaker pedigree and level of craft. So stock up now as temperatures warm up, garden parties commence, and the great outdoors beckon. Your friends will thank you for introducing you to one of Napa’s hidden gems!
Unique in focus by Napa standards, Dan only makes white wines under this label and a few from rare varietals not widely grown here in the Napa Valley (his day job is making exceptional Cabernet for Larkmead). Since his first vintage of Massican in 2009, he has garnered a loyal following for these stimulating and vibrant wines, and a large share of that following are his friends and colleagues here in the valley. In a land known for big, powerful Cabernets, Dan's approach to his style of white winemaking is both refreshing and adored.
Massican’s take on Sauvignon Blanc is inspired by the simply lip-smacking wines enjoyed daily by Italians in the Northeastern region of Friuli. Dan sources fruit from two of his favorite vineyards in Napa that are simultaneously the warmest by day and coldest by night. This yin and yang weather phenomenon results in abundant, pretty, floral aromas with a zesty palate of fresh lemon pie, guava, and orange peel. The arrival of more sunny days makes this wine a necessity this late spring and fast-approaching summer!
