Elaborate Truths White Wine is the sophomore offering from the family owned & operated Greater Fool Wine Company and we are thrilled to present this aromatic, textured, and complex white wine blend. Julian Christian & Kathryn Siegfried moved to Napa, CA to live their dream and work in wine after leaving extensive careers in restaurants & hospitality in 2016. First seduced by the charm and wonder of wine country 10 years ago on a business trip while working as an assistant manager in fine dining, Julian traveled to Napa from Canton, Ohio with his then boss and wine mentor Jerry Jacob. During an unseasonably cool third week of August, Julian explored Napa in all its glory. Early morning barrel tastings above the fog line on Howell Mountain, a classic lunch at the iconic Mustards Grill, and he even bumped into his future employer, Chef Thomas Keller, while in line at Bouchon Bakery for a lemon tart. Upon his return home, Julian began studying to become a professional sommelier and quickly found himself devoted to the world of wine. Six years and several business trips later, after completing the Level 2 Certified Sommelier program, Julian ventured back to Napa for his first harvest internship in wine production and never looked back. While working harvests at Cakebread Cellars, Buccella, and Hourglass alongside head-winemaker Tony Biagi and his own Patria Wines, Julian developed a great appreciation for the many number of ways to make high quality, delicious wine, which people will want to share. The common thread seemed to be the quality of the grapes that each wine starts with; when great care is taken in the vineyard, it can be easier to move out of the way in the cellar and allow a wine to truly speak for itself.

Inspired by the aromatic, food-friendly white wines of the Rhone and Alsace regions in France, Elaborate Truths is an eccentric blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. Using an old-school winemaking technique called co-fermentation, each variety is pressed together and blended in tank before being fermented in neutral French oak and stainless steel barrels. Combining varietals from different vineyard blocks with specific flavors and varying degrees of acidity and sugar can be somewhat tricky, but with close attention paid in the vineyards and diligent sampling and analysis leading up to picking, Julian & Kathryn produce a wine that is unique to anything that can be done at a blending table. Instead of making separate wines, picked on separate days and eventually marrying them with hopes for balance, complexity and character that unite, the wine components are integrated very early on, creating a harmony where each grape has its own voice while singing the same song.

59% Sauvignon Blanc, 41% Viognier, hand-picked and co-fermented in a mix of neutral French oak & stainless-steel barrels. Aged for five months sur lie, with frequent stirring to help round the edges, of this vibrant, crisp and juicy white wine. Opening with aromas of orange blossom, Honeycrisp apple, and candied ginger, the palate shows depth that reveals itself more and more as the wine warms up in your glass. Focused, with a core of peach pit, citrus fruits, bruised apple, and lemongrass, a lively acidity carries the wine through its textured finish. Enjoy this wine on its own while practicing self-care in a hammock or open a bottle as you light the grill and let it unravel layers of complexity while dinner is being prepared and all the way to dessert! Pair it with pork belly lettuce wraps topped with pickled cantaloupe; smoked wings & bleu cheese coleslaw; or poached pears with sabayon. A refreshing 12.8% abv and just 160 cases produced.
