Zeitgeist The Grove Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena 2019

Zeitgeist Cellars is the brilliant collaboration between husband-and-wife winemaking team, Mark Porembski (Anomaly & Unwritten) and Jennifer Williams (Arrow & Branch, formerly of Spottswoode and Pahlmeyer). With three beautiful daughters at home and full-time responsibilities at their day jobs, how this rock-star winemaking couple finds the time to craft these gorgeous Zeitgeist wines is beyond us! They do have one important leg up: a network of longtime, close friends with impeccable vineyards. The monumentally structured The Grove comes from a single block, alongside an ancient olive grove, farmed by their dear friend Haley Wight at Lewelling Ranch. This wine speaks to a sense of place, family ties, and the time-honored, impeccable winemaking prowess of Mark and Jennifer. 

Intriguing notes of cassis, red currants, tobacco, toasted spice, and sweet herbs all emerge on the nose, and it’s packed with fruit, has ripe, polished tannins, full-bodied richness, and a great finish. This vineyard produces ripe, sexy wines, and this wine certainly falls into that category. Drink it over the coming two decades or so.
