Our job is to ensure that what we taste will be greatly enjoyed by others. Time is precious, and trust is a must. So when we started our work day pouring these two wines into glasses for a taste to determine if we should share them with you, it was an easy decision. Twenty years ago, we championed this inaugural project with an excitement felt when sharing something outstanding with an audience of wine enthusiasts. The past titillation is fresh as we sip and share our thoughts with you today.
Founded by Ed Snider in 2002, we introduced hundreds of Cabernet lovers to this wine who fell in love with it and requested us to send them vintage after vintage as a consistently enjoyable Napa Cab, bringing us a deep sense of achievement. It flies under the radar, as so many brands we discover do, always able to satisfy and impress with true Napa Cab stature. Despite Robert Parker claiming it as "one of my favorite wineries," they have successfully kept their hidden gem status. Our early relationship allowed our clients a prized allocation today.
Coming from the Stags Ridge Vineyard, at 1,400 feet above the valley floor near Pritchard Hill and Stagecoach Vineyard, this world-renowned and recognized winery produces exceptional, intense, balanced, rich, and multidimensional wines. With the highly talented Julien Fayard on board as the winemaker, we are confident and jubilant to bring this special offer to you today. Needless to say, our palates are very happy right now :-)
Winemaker notes: "The 2019 Guest Cottage Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is a little reticent to begin, soon unfurling to reveal fragrant notes of warm cassis, black cherries, and black raspberries with hints of candied violets, chocolate box, spice cake, and cedar chest plus a hint of iron ore. The full-bodied palate is solidly built with a firm, grainy texture and oodles of freshness supporting the taut, muscular black fruits, finishing with great length and depth."
