Misc. Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2021

We caught word of Misc. Wines from a longtime client and friend, and when we reached out to inquire about tasting it took three follow-up emails and two calls to finally get in touch with winemaker/proprietor Grant Long. It's true what they say - persistence makes the heart grow fonder. 

Howell Mountain is one of our all-time favorite AVAs, and we are always on the hunt for the undeniable combination of delicious wine at a generous price point. For the last 18 months, it has been Kennedy Cellars (if you've visited in the last year, there's a strong chance we turned you onto this brand). Today, there's a new bottle on the block and you can bet that we'll be pouring this in just about everyone's glass for as long as the wine is available. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon from Misc. Wines is our new end-all-be-all! And with only 50 cases made, it'll be a short but sweet ride.

Grant Long Jr. has spent his entire career in the wine business. His approach to his craft comes from a very personal perspective, putting commitment far above all other considerations. He is the proprietor and winemaker behind Aonair, which has become highly regarded and sought after. So much so, that he sells almost every bottle directly which caused the out-of-state markets to reach out and ask him to make a second brand for distribution only. Grant agreed and launched Misc. Wines with the idea that all of the production would travel out of state to restaurants and retailers. This plan took a turn when his eager fans caught wind of the new brand and twisted Grant's arm into selling the entire production directly to them. So much for those winelists on the East Coast! 

Now 9 vintages in, Grant has a sweet little set-up with the Misc. Wines. He makes four single vineyard Cabernets, just 50 cases of each. His mailing list demand is so high that he sells out of everything within a week of release. So we were very surprised when he answered our call and agreed to work with us! In Grant's words, "it would be my pleasure to work with a great local business such as yours."
