Clos Cibonne draws its name from Jean-Baptiste de Cibon, captain of Louis XVI's Royal navy,  and first owner of the vineyard.  After his death in 1797, the property was sold to the Roux family whose descendents remain in ownership today.  A stone's throw away from the Mediterranean sea in the south-east of France, Clos Cibonne's 24 hectare property overlooks the Toulon harbor.  In the 1930s, André Roux planted the vineyard to the indigenous Tibouren grape varietal, and since then, both children and grandchildren have carried on the tradition.

Tibouren is most often used in the production of rosés and is intensely aromatic with earthy and herbal notes. The Rosé Tradition is blended from 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache and fermented in stainless steel before aging in 100-year-old oak casks for 12-18 months.  "The nose is enchanting, warm, and matures into smooth spicy aromas. The palate has surprising minerality and delicate red fruit flavors." ~Winery Tasting Notes
