Champagne Jacquesson Cuvée n° 748 Champagne NV MAGNUM
- VintageNV (2020 base)
- VarietyChampagne Blends
- AppellationChampagne
Jacquesson stands out as a producer amongst its peers in Champagne not for its centuries-long history of making Champagne but for its drastic re-invention in the late 1990s from traditional Champagne practices to terroir and vintage-specific methods. Brothers Laurent and Jean-Hervé Chiquet shocked the Champagne world when they discontinued the 150-year-old non-vintage label and released a numbered, vintage-based blend. For ages, the big Champagne houses used perpetual reserve wines and other techniques to create "house" styles that maintained the same taste year after year, regardless of weather conditions. Laurent & Jean-Hervé changed the course of Jacquesson by re-focusing the winemaking to craft the best possible wine from their plots, showcasing the impeccable terroir and adapting to the year's circumstances.
A truly gastronomic champagne - 76% base wine from the 2020 vintage was blended with house reserves and aged for nearly four years on the lees. Chardonnay takes the spotlight in a blend that unfolds with bright minerality and layered nuance. “The 20th anniversary of this bottling is gorgeous. Dried pear, crushed flowers, mint, chamomile, and spice all grace the palate… The No. 748 is one of the most elegant and refined editions of this wine I can remember tasting.” - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
