Seven Stones has long believed that wine is more than a sensory experience; it is a conversation between place, craftsmanship, and imagination. The Collection embodies that vision. This ongoing project brings together distinctive Napa Valley wines shaped by winemaker Aaron Pott and original works from the estate's contemporary art holdings, creating a dialogue between the vineyard and the visual world. The series begins with this wine, a 2022 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon presented alongside Cesta Lunar 64 by Colombian artist Olga de Amaral, whose work transforms textiles into shimmering contemporary sculpture. Her art will continue to represent this wine each year—a fitting analogy for a Cabernet that is as layered, expressive, and multidimensional as her woven compositions.

The 2022 vintage was unlike any other in Napa Valley. A long, persistent drought, the longest in 1,200 years, set the tone for the season, with modest rainfall in the fall and almost none through the winter months. Warm March temperatures pushed bud break early, and a timely rainstorm arrived at the end of May, offering brief relief before the valley swung into a hot June and a cooler July. Then came the unprecedented late-August and early-September heatwave, with temperatures soaring to historic highs and ripening accelerating at a staggering pace. Harvest at Seven Stones came early, well before the late September rains that abruptly ended the season for many vineyards. The result is a wine of remarkable concentration, purity, and balance.

In the glass, the 2022 Collection Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and dense, yet remarkably supple. This debut vintage is comprised of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Malbec and aged for 21 months in French oak. Aromas of plum, cherry, blackcurrant, and violet rise with generous lift, joined by notes of cocoa, spearmint, minerals, and understated oak spice. The palate is steeped in luscious black fruit wrapped in velvety, round tannins that give the wine both its power and its polish. Its depth and length speak to the advantages of Seven Stones' high-altitude, cooler vineyard sites, where the mountains protect the vines from the harshest late-afternoon sun. Though beautiful today, the wine has the structure and concentration to reward aging for years to come. This release continues Seven Stones’ commitment to bridging art and terroir—capturing the resilience of a challenging season and transforming it into a wine that is seamless, expressive, and enduring.
