Keith and Claudia Ross didn’t set out to simply buy a vineyard; they set out to build a home for their vision. When they purchased Ross Ranch in Knights Valley in 2018, it was with a clear intention: to create an estate dedicated to exceptional wine, rooted entirely in one of California’s most compelling Cabernet-growing regions. With volcanic-rich soils and a rare balance of warm days and cool nights, Knights Valley offered the ideal canvas. What followed was less a transaction and more a commitment to place, to patience, and to putting down roots.

Almost immediately, the Rosses planted ten acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, along with a small block of head-trained Zinfandel tucked along Redwood Creek. Their focus has remained unwavering: wines farmed exclusively in Knights Valley, shaped by the land rather than trend or excess. Today, Ross Ranch produces estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel alongside Sauvignon Blanc and a Bordeaux-inspired Ranch Red—each wine a reflection of thoughtful farming, minimal intervention, and a deep respect for the vineyard.

The estate itself has evolved into something even more personal. Beyond the vines, Ross Ranch is a living, breathing farm, complete with curated gardens, olive trees, and a lively cast of animals that make up its farm-to-table heart. From heritage chickens providing daily fresh eggs to Black Angus cattle grazing beneath ancient oaks, every element of the ranch is intentional. Guests are invited not just to taste the wines, but to experience the rhythms of ranch life that shape the final product in the glass.

The 2022 Ross Ranch Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is the thoroughbred of the portfolio. Made from 100% estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 24 months in new French oak, it opens with layers of blackcurrant and cherry, accented by a subtle hint of cedar. The palate is refined and composed—medium-to-full bodied, gracefully balanced, and deeply expressive without excess. A lush, polished finish unfolds slowly, revealing greater depth with each sip.
