There’s a quiet confidence that comes from knowing the vineyard first. Long before Jordan Crabtree ever put his name on a label, he was walking rows. With advanced degrees in Viticulture & Enology and years spent developing and managing vineyards throughout Paso Robles and the Central Coast, Jordan built his career from the ground up, literally. As founder of Vinifarm, he dedicated himself to understanding sites intimately: soil composition, clonal selection, farming decisions, and the subtle interplay between vine balance and flavor development.

When he launched El Viñero in 2019, the move into winemaking wasn’t about stepping into the spotlight. In fact, Jordan often jokes about the role, saying, “winemakers get all the glory.” For him, the real story begins in the vineyard. El Viñero was created to showcase the craftsmanship of winegrowing and to allow thoughtfully farmed sites to express themselves with clarity and honesty. From vine to bottle, Jordan oversees every step, believing that authenticity comes from continuity. The 2021 Super G is a beautiful reflection of that philosophy, and a deeply personal one at that.

The name is a nod to the blend’s two “G” varieties — 54% Graciano from the Lopai Vineyard and 46% Grenache from the Jada Vineyard, both in Paso Robles’ Willow Creek District. But it is also a tribute to Jordan’s grandmother, affectionately known by her great-grandchildren as “Super G.” The wine carries that dual meaning gracefully, displaying strength and structure intertwined with warmth and approachability.

Aged for 32 months in once-used French oak, the 2021 opens with layers of juicy black cherry and wild blackberry, followed by leather, crushed herbs, and a gentle crack of black pepper. At 13.2% alcohol, it feels vibrant and composed — medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a persistent, savory finish. The oak supports rather than dominates, allowing the vineyard character to remain front and center. Super G is, in many ways, a study in stewardship of land, craft, and of family legacy. It’s Paso Robles seen through the lens of a grower who believes the vineyard should always have the final word.
